If you would like me to review your book, please contact me with title, general description, page amount, and publication date. I receive quite a few ARC requests and can't promise to read your book unless I've requested it myself.

Just In Case You Were Wondering...

What is your feedback ratio on NetGalley?

I currently have a +80% feedback ratio on NetGalley.

Since your blog is new, where can I view your reviews?

I've been actively reviewing books on GoodReads for over a year.  Many of my older reviews can be found there.  In addition, I've been a member of NetGalley for about six months now (profile AuthentiKate).

As of January 2019, I started a Twitter @AuthentiKate1. If you tweet, add me!  Would love to make bookish connections 😄

Can you explain your star rating system?

⭐️ Rare. I do my due diligence to try to prevent reading these.  Should one slip by and you see 1 star, know it sucked.
⭐️⭐️ Thanks for the couple of hours I'll never have back. Many plot holes. Uninteresting characters. An ending I saw coming a mile away. Quite a few flaws. Gimmicky.  Formulaic.  Bleh.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ A pretty good book. Decent. It may have had a few predictable aspects and/or gimmicky techniques...may have been a bit formulaic. But, overall it is a fairly good read or it had something else going for it that made me overlook its flaws.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A VERY GOOD BOOK! Recommend reading. This book will have just something picky that kept it from 5 stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW!  MIND BLOWN! These are the kinds of books that have most everything going for them. They are unique.  Fresh.  Surprising.  They made me feel something.  I didn't want them to end.

Do you review every book you read?

No, unless it is a book I've requested through Netgalley or one that has been sent to me directly by a publisher upon request, I may not always write a review.  Most books I read will get a star rating on Goodreads but may not always have an accompanying write up.

Will you write a review even for books you didn't like?

Yes, especially if those titles were ones I've requested through NetGalley as the ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.  So, even if I didn't happen to like the book, I owe it to the publisher and author to give my honest feedback.

If it is just a book I picked up myself, I may only provide a star rating.

What type of books do you like to read?

I am a fairly eclectic reader.  My fiction favorites include: historical fiction, contemporary lit, mystery-thriller, fantasy and sci-fi.  Nonfiction favorites are: art, history and politics.

What format do you read?

I read both physical and e-books.  Publishers wishing for me to review their author's books can inquire here as to the format to submit their book for review.

I prefer not to receive PDF files however.

Kate

Head Blogger

Kate is the main reader and reviewer for the team. Her favorite color is yellow (no, it doesn't remind her of bile...ew) and gets her iced tea almost intravenously (with lemon, thank you very much). She has been known to read 3 books/day.

Pomeranian

The Boss

This little old girl keeps the boys in line and assists Kate with keeping on schedule. She is an ever-present love bug (whom Kate's husband affectionately refers to as Kate's parasitic twin--Kate doesn't mind).

St.Bernard

Barker in Chief

Who said all St. Bernard's are mellow? Not this guy! He's good for reading breaks...whether we want one or not. When it comes to him, we usually do. There may or may not be a slight issue with drool.

Goldendoodle

Comic Relief/book prop

Sir Dude is good for some laughs and makes an excellent prop for books since he thinks he's a lap dog and can squeeze in beside The Pom. He likes to steal socks, though he doesn't eat them. Shwew!

Reader. Writer. Mom.

My name is Kate and like you, I'm a complete bibliophile. When I'm not reading (and really, let's be honest, when is that?)  I'm hunting for the next read; there's something deeply satisfying about the tactile hunt for my next favorite read.  I'm a writer of a few trifles (esoteric periodicals I'm betting the vast majority haven't seen) and scientific research (again, safe bet the vast majority haven't seen these either. 🤷‍♀️).

I'm a wife to my best friend (25 years!) mom to my two college-age daughters (both law school bound), and dog mom to three precious pups (they're part of my daily team--check 'em out, they're super cute!). I'm also a former science nerd (though some would argue the nerd part still applies).

I enjoy meeting new people so drop by and say Hello!
